Why are angels always so ugly?

[tm:4510_]Avatar[/tm]

Avatar's march to history continues as it earns another $9.1 million, down a scant 13.3% from last Friday. It will pass The Dark Knight for #2 all time by the end of the weekend and now has Titanic in its sights. Avatar will earn another $34.3 million for the weekend and it still shows little sign of slowing down.

[tm:4326_]Legion[/tm]

With guns a-blazin', Legion manages to be the the top new opener for the weekend with $6.8 million on Friday. It certainly could have done much worse given how goofy the concept is, but after the relative successes of [tm:2013_]Daybreakers[/tm] and last week's [tm:4678_]The Book of Eli[/tm], anything seems to go in 2010 so far. A weekend of $17.6 million is quite good for Legion.

[tm:4281_]Tooth Fairy[/tm]

The Rock's latest family release, The Tooth Fairy earned $3.6 million on Friday. The best comparison here is The Game Plan, which had a 3.6 multiplier on its way to a $22.9 million opening in 2007. The Tooth Fairy should perform similarly, but it's going to go down as a disappointment with a weekend of $13 million.

[tm:4994_]Extraordinary Measures[/tm]

[bp:24_]Harrison Ford[/bp] may already work around the clock, but that couldn't stop Extraordinary Measures from being a big disappintment with $2 million on Friday. Give it $6 million and an insauspicious beginning for CBS Films.
