Does this mean we're famous now?

It's another topsy-turvy weekend at the box office, as Blades of Glory is knocked out of the top spot, and not by the film that you would think might do it.

Disturbia

Essentially a teen adaptation of Rear Window, that was good enough for most viewers on Friday, as it easily topped the box office with $8.7 million on Friday. Chalk it up to some decent marketing and a box office that didn't have any other options for teen viewers. It also perhaps looked better than Perfect Stranger, so even some adult viewers opted for Shia LaBeouf over Halle Berry and Bruce Willis, making this one of the biggest star power upsets in a while. Look for a solid full weekend estimate of around $24.3 million.

Perfect Stranger

The aformentioned Halle Berry/Bruce Willis checks in a disappointing third place on Friday, with $3.8 million. Viewers smelled something here and clearly didn't like it, especially given the names involved. I see a full weekend of $11.4 million, and something you'll have completely forgotten was even made in a couple of months.

Pathfinder & Redline

Despite being completely different films, both Pathfinder and Redline looked like they should have gone straight-to-DVD, both opened in theaters anyway (on 1,720 and 1,607 screens, respectively), and Pathfinder earned $1.6 million on Friday, while Redline took in $1.5 million. I have essentially the same thing to say about both of these releases, which is absolutely nothing, so they get combined into one entry for the purposes of this column. Pathfinder should end the weekend with $4.3 million, while Redline will come in with around $4 million.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters

Number ten in the hood, G! In a mild surpise, the theatrical adaptation of the Adult Swim cult series lands in the tenth spot on Friday, with $1.3 million on just 877 screens. It would be an even bigger upset if it was still there once we got the full weekend estimates, as the Aqua Teen Hunger Force is about as cult as you can get, though one hopes that this bodes well for future Adult Swim movies. Call it a weekend of $3.5 million, which might just be enough.

Notable Holdovers

Two-week champ Blades of Glory takes a bit of a post-Spring Break hit of 49% from last Friday as it slips to number two. It's still good for about $15 million this weekend, though.

A lot of the leftovers had above average drops from last Friday, as it was inflated from it being Good Friday, as even Meet the Robinsons fell 55% a week after dropping less than 10%. As for Grindhouse, it's not even in the top ten for yesterday. There will be a decent recovery over the rest of the weekend, though.
