Power Rankings for 1/23/17
Best Original Screenplay
P/R Last C/R Person/Film
1 -- 99 Damien Chazelle - La La Land
A lack of nomination for the Best Picture frontrunner is really unthinkable.
2 -- 98 Kenneth Lonergan - Manchester by the Sea
Likewise, since Manchester's strongest asset is the screenplay, it is sure to show up here.
3 -- 80 Matt Ross - Captain Fantastic
Maybe it's my own love for the film, but I have a feeling Captain Fantastic is going to do very well, potentially showing up in major categories.
4 -- 75 Taylor Sheridan - Hell or High Water
The movie has been a consistent hit since its release and likely is safe here as well.
5 -- 70 Maren Ade - Toni Erdmann
We'll see if they've gotten around to seeing this long movie yet, but if they have surely the script will receive accolades.
6 -- 65 Yorgos Lanthimos - The Lobster
Adored by critics, this noir movie may be too much for them to handle, but we shall see.
