Alejandro Gonzalez-Inarritu - The Revenant |
The BAFTA win adds to his momentum after the DGA win. The reality is that the movie is widely understood to have been difficult to put together, and they may be rewarding that for that reason. |

George Miller - Mad Max |
Miller's movie is also a technical mastery, but if he was going to have any shot, he should have won at BAFTA. It could still happen but it's appearing less and less likely. |

Adam McKay - The Big Short |
I think it's unlikely that he will win (the screenplay Oscar will be his prize) but if he does, then you know the outcome of Best Picture. |

Tom McCarthy - Spotlight |
Ditto McCarthy for Spotlight. It's amazing how TBS and Spotlight are mirror images of each other this year. It would wreak havoc in the voting. |

Lenny Abrahamson - Room |
A stunner here would be awesome but it won't happen. |
