Power Rankings for 12/10/15
Best Supporting Actor
P/R Last C/R Person/Film
1 1 95 Mark Rylance - Bridge of Spies
SAG and Golden Globe nominations mean Oscar nominations over 85% of the time in this category, over the last 10 years.
2 4 80 Idris Elba - Beasts of No Nation
Amassing critical awards left and right, plus that SAG and Golden Globe nods, means he's well on his way, in a coup for Netflix.
3 2 75 Sylvester Stallone - Creed
Sly took a hit from the lack of SAG love for Creed, but the crowd-pleasure is mounting a strong campaign still.
4 -- 70 Michael Shannon - 99 Homes
Several critical awards and SAG and Globes nominations later, Shannon is an Academy darling. He's looking to repeat his surprise Revolutionary Road nod. Although, this time, it won't be as surprising. With those two under his belt, a nod seems almost assured.
5 3 65 Mark Ruffalo - Spotlight
Despite missing at SAG and Globes, it's hard to imagine that AMPAS isn't going to give at least one Spotlight actor a nod if the movie is ahead in Best Picture, and it's not going to be Rachel McAdams. Or will they?
