Alfonso Cuaron - Gravity |
Not much has happened in the race to alter Cuaron's status as prohibitive front-runner. He even added a win from the London Film Critics as well as the UK Regional Critics (the who?) for Best Director, so the BAFTA may not be far behind. |

Steve McQueen - 12 Years a Slave |
Not to be outdone, McQueen's picture did win Best Picture from both the London and the UK Film Critics, but even then the Brit could not even get the homegrown talent vote from those organizations for his directorial turn. |

Really, there is not much left to say here other than...fourth time may be the charm? |

Martin Scorsese - The Wolf of Wall Street |
With the controversy for "Wolf" a distant memory, Marty may at least console himself that he won't necessarily be last place. |

Alexander Payne - Nebraska |
It is a testament to the strength of directorial turns this year when this type of work is in fifth place. |
